How to Raise Your Esthetician Prices Without Losing Clients
Nov 02, 2026
If you haven't raised your prices in over a year, you've quietly given yourself a pay cut.
Product costs go up. Rent goes up. Your skills and education keep growing. Yet so many estheticians hold their prices steady out of fear of losing clients. Let's change that, with a plan that feels confident, kind and professional.
Signs it's time to raise your prices
- You're booked out, or close to it
- Your product, supply or rent costs have increased
- You've invested in new training or certifications
- You feel a little resentful during certain services
If any of these sound familiar, it's time.
Why the end of the year is the perfect time
Announcing your new prices in November or December gives clients 30 to 60 days' notice before they take effect in January. It feels natural with a new year, and it gives your regulars time to plan.
How much should you raise?
A common approach is a modest increase, often in the range of 5 to 10 percent, or a few dollars per service. Start with your most requested services and the treatments you're known for. Look at what others in your area charge, but don't price yourself against the cheapest option. Price for the experience you provide.
How to announce it with grace
Share the news by email, text and a small sign at your front desk. Lead with gratitude and value, not apology. You don't need to over-explain.
Here's a sample you can make your own:
"Thank you for trusting me with your skin this year. To keep offering the level of care and quality you deserve, my service prices will be updated on January 1. Book before December 31 to lock in your current rate for your next visit. I'm so grateful for you."
That last line does double duty: it rewards your loyal clients and helps fill your January book.
What if a client pushes back?
Most clients won't blink. They value you and understand that costs change. If someone hesitates, keep it simple and kind:
"I completely understand. I'm happy to help you find a service that fits your budget."
Remember that the clients who leave over a fair increase make room for clients who truly value your work.
Your next step
Set your new prices this week, write your announcement, and send it before the holiday rush. Your future self (and your bank account) will thank you.
